The Oregon Trail is back and it's bigger than ever!
Dysentery, Tombstones, Fording and Hunting; they're all right here in your browser,
but they've teamed up with satellite maps and social media! Google maps provides the
backdrop for the dramatic 2,000 mile journey. Twitter provides the cheering section and
Wikipedia makes it educational. You and your friends provide all the courage and craziness along the way.
Things get real on the internet, and this journey is a real-time experience, so if you
leave now you might make it to Oregon by May 31.
So what are you waiting for? A historic migration begins.
Your wagon understands many different commands. Give your commands to @EzraMeeker on twitter. In the above example Einstein has just started his journey.
Invite up to four of your best friends or favorite personalities to join you on your journey. But take care, their lives are in your hands!
Clicking on your wagon and the landmarks you encounter is a great way to learn more about the Oregon Trail. We've created a detailed and realistic map and populated it with 19th century landmarks.
